About Us
Imagine it is late at night. You are sitting at the computer, staring at the glowing blue screen as you pull an all nighter to complete that assignment for school, or that report for work. You yawn. In the time it takes you to yawn, a person will have died from starvation. Every 3.6 seconds a person dies from starvation. This year, 2012, the Year 10 High Resolves leaders believe it is time for change.
High Resolves is an initiative that allows students to develop their leadership skills in terms of direction, capability and confidence, to succeed and make a difference in the 21st century. The third year of this program is called “Global Leadership” and involves students recognising their position in this world and their ability to initiate change. The students must create a community action project which targets an issue in the world that they are passionate about. The students must plan a project or event which informs, engages and if possible changes the behaviour of citizens relating to their issue. The whole purpose of this program is to allow students to interact with the community and gain important life and communication skills whilst making a positive impact.
Hi! We're a group of Year 10 students from Girraween High School, Australia. In conjunction with the High Resolves Organisation and with the help of Make Poverty History we are executing a project on a serious and important global issue. EXTREME POVERTY AND HUNGER. Our Keep Me Warm campaign aims to increase awareness on the issue of poverty and hunger which threatens the lives of many people all over the world. Our promotional video highlights our objectives. We ask that you take the time to watch and show your support by liking/following us on any of our pages on Facebook, Tumblr or Twitter, which are linked at the top of this page.
We also aim to create a mural to demonstrate the support gained for the cause. To do this we ask you to write a supportive message to "Keep Me Warm With A Blanket Of Thoughts" and post it on our page. Thank you and remember, Our World, Our Choice!
Our Keep Me Warm campaign aims to spread awareness on the issue of poverty and hunger and also encourage the Australian government to increase its contribution to international aid. A mural of thoughts will be presented in countless Australian local and state governments until it finally, with your help, can reach Parliament House.
